Abstract
A lot of local agenda 21 processes fail because the responsible actors are not able to integrate their endeavours into ongoing policies and political institutions. The paper discusses approaches of project assessment towards sustainable development to enable this integration. Different approaches from German speaking coontries (CH, AT, DE) are analysed and compared.
