However, often those studies remain on the individual level of analysis. In the paper at hand, we extent existing research to the organizational level and allow for an analysis over time employing data from an agent-based simulation model. We find that the environmental complexity negatively affects acceptance and usage of business information systems, which eventually leads to a decreased organizational performance.
