Stumbling instead of steering? A research agenda on nonprofit organizations’ stakeholder communication in strategy implementation

In the paper at hand, we provide a research agenda on strategy implementation in nonprofit organizations (NPOs). In particular, we illuminate the role of stakeholder communication and outline the blind spots of current research. Since NPOs’ communication with their constituencies is considered the critical determinant for implementation outcomes, we address the topic from a stakeholder-oriented perspective. Based on the presented theoretical concepts and empirical studies, we subsequently identify research gaps and formulate questions for further examination.
