Description
Customer demand for green electricity can be an important driving factor for more sustainability in the energy industry. More than 3 million customers worldwide buy green electricity. However, there is still a wide gap between actual purchasing behaviour and stated preferences for renewable energy. We used a large-scale survey of residential green electricity customers in the city of St. Gallen (Switzerland) to determine hindering and fostering factors for green electricity demand. We were particularly interested in finding out about the differences in attitudes between green electricity customers and non-green electricity customers (with regard to price sensitivity, interest in green electricity and purchasing intention).
