Item type:Veröffentlichung, Cruising towards Supply Chain Viability: A Tripartite Perspective through Multi-Stage Focus Groups(2025); ; Supply Chain Viability (SCV) is the ability of a supply chain system to survive and adapt in a changing environment over a long period of time, integrating the aspects of leagility, resilience, and sustainability. This study identifies practice concepts that can be implemented by different stakeholder clusters to enable SCV. We adopt a backcasting approach, starting from the vision of SCV derived from the literature review and then conduct eight focus group sessions with experts. Our findings include 69 practice concepts that are assigned to six enabler categories and three stakeholder clusters: Intertwined Supply Network, Society, and Economy & Governance. We discuss how these clusters differ in the nature of their practices, as well as their contribution in achieving SCV. Item type:Veröffentlichung, A Simulation-Based Evaluation of Combined Resilience Measures to Mitigate Supply Chain Disruptions(2024-06)The motivation for this paper is to address the critical knowledge gap in understanding the effectiveness of various supply chain resilience practices, both individually and in combination, against the backdrop of increasingly frequent and diverse global supply chain disruptions. This research seeks to provide a deeper, quantitative understanding of resilience strategies tailored to specific disruption scenarios, enhancing the ability of supply chains to adapt and respond effectively to dynamic global challenges. To achieve this objective, a simulation-based approach is employed, providing a robust foundation for analysis and comparability. Using the Monte Carlo method, 240 combinations of resilience practices are simulated 10,000 times each for five different disruptions (supply disruption, production shutdown, inventory destruction, logistics interference and demand shift), creating a comprehensive dataset for evaluation. The findings of this paper are the identification of varying degrees of effectiveness in individual and combined supply chain resilience practices tailored to specific types of disruptions. For industry professionals, this paper serves as a practical guide for assessing and refining their own resilience strategies. Item type:Veröffentlichung, The evolution of early warning effectiveness - Recommending proactive measures in the event of an early warning and resulting learning effectsGlobal supply chains have been lulled into a sense of complacency, by reducing costs and efficiency, leading to a continuously increasing degree of complexity, rigidity, and loss of control by outsourcing. Since supply chain risk management could not cope with this development, essential but overdue development steps are required. An EWS in SCM is powerful if the additional preparation time is used effectively in uncertain situations. By combining DSR and the qualitative data analysis of interviews, the study develops a framework to increase early warning effectiveness for supply chain disruptions. We chose this approach because early warning in SCM is in an exploratory stage. We have established a framework for the purposeful evolution of early warning effectiveness.This paper identifies a crucial framework for practitioners to increase early warning effectiveness and simultaneously develops a catalog of actionable measures in case of an early warning. Therefore, it provides practical guidelines for managers to take the right action steps when a supply chain disruption is imminent.
