    Solar Adoption by Mandates
    Building codes for new construction are an increasingly common policy mechanism to encourage the transition away from fossil fuels. E.g., residential gas bans, energy efficiency standards, and rooftop solar panel mandates. California: Since 2020, the California Energy Commission (CEC) has required rooftop solar for residential new construction buildings. European Union: European Parliament has passed a rooftop solar mandate to be phased in by 2030.
