Studying murdering and slaughtering in (cor)relation

Abstract
This paper suggests that the extent and development of animal production may impact homicide rates. To test this bold hypothesis, a sample of 78 countries with high-quality data standards was used. The analysis, covering the period between 1990 and 2021 and based on World Bank data, shows that the murder rate in a country can be explained not only by GDP per capita and time but also by the development of livestock for male victims and both livestock development and the extent of aquaculture for female victims. In the discussion, the well-established connection between domestic violence and animal cruelty is cited as evidence that these correlations may not be as spurious as they initially seem.
