Abstract
Performance based contracts are an innovative approach to align outcome orientation and incentivizing remuneration models in buyer-supplier relationships. To evaluate the grade of fulfillment of those contracts performance indicators are needed. In case of capital equipment maintenance, repair and provisioning ser-vices play a vital role as well as the reliability and supportability of the product it-self. Based on two case studies this paper presents a methodology to operational-ize the measure "availability" focusing on the heterogeneous needs of customer and offering supplier during different phases of the transaction process.
