Abstract
Chapters 11.1-11.6 of the IPCC Special Report on Renewable Energy Sources (IPCC 2011) have laid out the menu of policy options available to policy makers, including an assessment of the efficiency and effectiveness of existing policies, and highlighting the importance of embedding specific policy instruments into a broader set of elements of an enabling environment. This short memo looks into the future, and outlines linkages between scenarios and policy options. It especially addresses the question what the policy options are for decision-makers who attempt at mitigating climate change by achieving a high share of renewables.
