Abstract
Conference Summary - The turbulences on the financial markets and their impact on the whole economy have pushed CEE (Central and East European) countries into recession. Local banks have been affected heavily by the financial crisis. A possible retreat of large banks from the CEE area has been discussed. Now, outlooks for some CEE countries are much better than for most other European countries, but the landscape remains heterogeneous.
