    My doctoral thesis is a collection of four essays covering two main topics. The first two essays relate to the lapse risk, which is caused by the embedded premium payment options in participating life contracts and is especially important during the current low-interest environment. The remaining two essays focus on 'on-demand insurance, an innovative insurtech product. Using experimental data, the essays investigate how insurance customers risk attitudes can be changed simply by offering them reduced-duration insurance.
