Item type:Publication, Verfassungsrechtlicher Rahmen der Präimplantationsdiagnostik-Verfahren (PID-Verfahren)The dissertation deals with the constitutional framework of preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD). These procedures rely on genetic profiling of embryo cells in the process of artificial reproduction. In the light of the constitutional framework, I differentiate the practical possibilities of these procedures, namely PGD, which filters out hereditary diseases (monogenic/single gene defects), and PGS, which screens for aneuploidies and chromosomal structural rearrangements. More specifically, I examine whether and to what extent the PGD and the PGS comply with the constitutional indications. The focus will be on the topics of severe hereditary disease, infertility, selection and supernumerary embryos. I show that the implementation of PGS involves both legally and ethically questionable problems, which are highly critical issues in Switzerland and in other parts of the world.Type:doctoral thesis
