Item type:Publication, Kompetenzentwicklung von Lehrpersonen zur Gestaltung der digitalen Transformation in SchulenThe education sector is experiencing an important moment of change. Teachers play a central role in this process. Developments around the digitalization led to changed requirements for the competences of active as well as pre-service teachers and thus for the university training curriculum of teacher education. Digital tools alone do not add value, they need to be applied effectively. Against this background, this doctoral thesis aims to answer the question of how teaching competences can be developed for the purpose of the digital transformation of schools with educational technologies. Two research areas were defined to ad-dress this question. In the first research area, a digital competence framework model for VET teachers is being developed in collaboration with education experts and practitioners. It shall be beneficial as a normative orientation framework for the effective design of teaching and school development in the age of digital transformation. Based on the defined competencies, the second research area addresses how these can be developed with the help of educational technologies. The first focus area is represented using Social Video Learning and complementary 360° video technology to promote collaborative reflection processes in university teacher education. The second focus area describes the conceptual foundations of immersive learning environments in a report as well as their design-based creation for the promotion of social and emotional competences in vocational education. In the outlook, AI-based technologies are thematized to anticipate related application possibilities in teacher education. In summary, this doctoral thesis identifies that effective competence development of pre-service teachers through educational technologies requires conceptual foundations and experimental research initiatives. It is further shown that the combination of Social Video Learning and 360° video technology is suitable for an improved teaching competence development. Finally, despite technological developments, teachers remain central to the teaching and learning processes.Type:doctoral thesis
