Abstract
This study has found that Swiss Family Enterprises enter cooperative relationships mostly in the areas of production, procurement, transportation, and logistics. Network structures are more often used by Non-Family Enterprises than by Family Enterprises. In regards to the kind of network that Family Enterprises enter, an orientation along the value chain can be ascertained. For the entrance of Non-Family Enterprises into networks, economic factors play a greater role than for Family Enterprises. The protection of independence by Family Enterprises plays a vital role in this regard.
