Zusammenfassung: In dem vorliegenden Kongressband setzen sich fünfunddreissig internationale Expertinnen und Experten aus Wissenschaft und Praxis mit Möglichkeiten und Rahmenbedingungen des Einsatzes von Informations- und Kommunikationstechnologien in Hochschulen auseinander. Die Beiträge adressieren aktuelle und zukünftige Herausforderungen, denen sich Hochschulen zu stellen haben, und präsentieren einen bunten Strauss an (bisher) erfolgreichen Projekten und Praxiserfahrungen. Infolge knapper werdender Ressourcen, einem zunehmenden Wettbewerb sowie aufgrund der Erfordernisse einer globalen Wissensgesellschaft haben sich Bildungsinstitutionen zukünftig vermehrt auf die Entwicklung und Implementation von E-Learning-Strategien, auf strategische Partnerschaften und integrierte Informationsdienste, auf die (Entwicklung und) Verbreitung innovativer Lehr-Lernkonzepte sowie auf die Weiterbildung und Qualitätsentwicklung zu konzentrieren. Mit diesem Sammelband gewinnen sowohl Wissenschaftler(innen) als auch Praktiker(innen) interessante Ideen und neue Einblicke in aktuelle Entwicklungen in Hochschulen im digitalen Zeitalter.
Universities in the Digital Age: Opportunities for Innovation and Structural Change
Abtract: In this anthology, international experts from universities and corporations share their experiences in facilitating the use of information and communication technologies in higher education, focusing on unfolding potentials and possibilities as well as identifying the general conditions necessary. Thirty-five experts address current and future challenges, pointing out some of the issues higher education institutions must tackle when it comes to e-learning, while presenting a large variety of projects and (so far) successful practices. Due to limited resources, increasing competition, and the requirements of a global knowledge society, institutions of (e)learning have to focus more on the development and implementation of e-learning strategies, strategic partnerships, integrated information management services, innovative learning and teaching concepts, continuing education, and quality development. In this book, researchers and practitioners alike will find interesting ideas and insights regarding these topics.
