Abstract
The globalization of business, the technological revolution as well as the requirements of the knowledge society in the 21st century and - not to forget - the recent global financial and economic crisis, some consider it a "crisis of management" and "management education appears to be a significant part of this problem" (Mintzberg, 2009) - cry for radical and rapid reforms in the education of future managers in business schools (for example Goshal, 2005, Gosling & Mintzberg, 2006, O'Toole, 2009). One of the major problems of many business schools at universities today - among other things, like the emphasis on discipline-based publications in 'A' grade journals at the expense of quality of teaching or the misleading assessment and accreditation practice of business schools focusing on prestige and quantifiable aspects - is the lack of a clear vision and purpose of management education. However, in order to survive in an increasingly competitive world-wide market offering education (as compared to 'just' training), i.e. innovative MBA programs developing students' capacity to learn, preparing them for a lifetime of leadership seems to be the comparative competitive advantage of higher education institutions.
