Abstract
This chapter introduces a transdisciplinary model that integrates the core properties of hope and connects them to various realms, from the individual to the interpersonal, collective, environmental, and spiritual. Building on previous psycho-logical research on hope, it outlines the rationale for adopting a transdisciplinary approach and examines the fundamental elements shared by nearly all forms of hope from a philosophical standpoint. The chapter further elaborates on the three universal aspects of hope—wishing, believing in its realization, and trusting oneself and others—and presents a model that illustrates how these basic elements manifest across five interconnected layers. In doing so, it explores the ways in which hope can be expanded and nurtured at each new level. The chapter concludes with the main findings and their implications for human and environmental flourishing.

Dieses Kapitel stellt ein transdisziplinäres Modell vor, das die Kernmerkmale der Hoffnung integriert und mit verschiedenen Bereichen verknüpft – von der individuellen über die zwischenmenschliche und kollektive Ebene bis hin zur Umwelt und zur Spiritualität. Aufbauend auf früheren psychologischen Forschungen zur Hoffnung skizziert es die Gründe für einen transdisziplinären Ansatz und untersucht aus philosophischer Sicht die grundlegenden Elemente, die nahezu allen Formen der Hoffnung gemeinsam sind. Das Kapitel geht näher auf die drei universellen Aspekte der Hoffnung ein – das Wünschen, den Glauben an deren Verwirklichung sowie das Vertrauen in sich selbst und andere – und stellt ein Modell vor, das veranschaulicht, wie sich diese Grundelemente auf fünf miteinander verbundenen Ebenen manifestieren. Dabei wird untersucht, wie Hoffnung auf jeder neuen Ebene erweitert und gepflegt werden kann. Das Kapitel schließt mit den wichtigsten Erkenntnissen und deren Implikationen für das Gedeihen von Mensch und Umwelt.

Ce chapitre présente un modèle transdisciplinaire qui intègre les propriétés fondamentales de l’espoir et les relie à divers domaines, allant du niveau individuel à celui interpersonnel, collectif, environnemental et spirituel. S’appuyant sur des recherches psychologiques antérieures consacrées à l’espoir, il expose les raisons justifiant l’adoption d’une approche transdisciplinaire et examine, d’un point de vue philosophique, les éléments fondamentaux communs à presque toutes les formes d’espoir. Le chapitre développe ensuite les trois aspects universels de l’espoir — formuler un souhait, croire en sa réalisation et avoir confiance en soi et en autrui — et présente un modèle illustrant comment ces éléments fondamentaux se manifestent à travers cinq niveaux interconnectés. Ce faisant, il explore les moyens par lesquels l’espoir peut être élargi et nourri à chaque nouveau niveau. Le chapitre se termine par la présentation des principales conclusions et de leurs implications pour l’épanouissement humain et environnemental.
