Item type:Publication, Networked business design in the context of innovative technoligies: Digital transformation in financial business ecosystems(2023-12-04); Business today is not conducted by single organizations alone but in networked designs with diverse actors. A construct where actors engage in joint value creation is called a business ecosystem. Speci cally, within the context of core services originating from the nancial services industry, such constructs are called nancial business ecosystems. Innovative technologies and intelligent methods enable value creation in these organizational setups. To effectively participate in these ecosystems and exploit the potential of innovative technologies and intelligent methods, organizations need to develop a novel operating model. We propose a blueprint for such an operating model building on two levels of capabilities: rst level capabilities that enable the exploitation of data and the number of partner relations as underlying resources of business ecosystems. The proposed second level capabilities enable the organization to engage in business ecosystems. Item type:Publication, Organizational Capabilities in Emerging Blockchain-Enabled Platform Ecosystems: Insights of a Single Case Study(2023-08-10); Ecosystems are emerging in almost all sectors. In the banking sector, they enable the disruption of traditional value chains and the emergence of entirely new types of value creation settings. Actors who engage in such constructs need specific organizational capabilities. This is especially true when particular technologies, in the presented case blockchain technology, are used to enable collaborative value creation between actors. We extend organizational capabilities as previously described in the context of platform ecosystems. For this purpose, we conducted a longitudinal case study of the Swiss blockchain-enabled platform ecosystem in the financial services sector. We analyzed the data using the theoretical perspective of organizational capabilities. Initial results confirm the organizational capabilities but indicate a different distribution reflecting the development stages of the ecosystem.
